Visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim to the College of Europe

On Monday, January 20th, 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming a very special guest to our Bruges campus: the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar IBRAHIM.

Addressing a packed room, Prime Minister Ibrahim delivered a powerful speech on the importance of fostering collaboration between Europe and Southeast Asia. He emphasized how both regions can tackle shared challenges together and build a future rooted in resilience, solidarity, and shared values.

The discussion continued with a lively Q&A session, where students, faculty, and external guestshad the chance to engage directly with the Prime Minister and Rector Mogherini, posing questions on topics ranging from regional cooperation and economic development to Malaysia’s role in Southeast Asia. 

We are thankful to Mr. Ibrahim for sharing his vision with us and engaging so thoughtfully with our students and community. This is what makes the College of Europe such a special place!
