Tirana, the capital and largest city of Albania, is nestled in the heart of the country, between mountains and sea. Recent years have seen substantial changes in the city’s appearance, reflecting its dynamic nature. Tirana’s pulsating cultural scene, especially prevalent in the city centre and Bllok neighbourhood, not only features regular art exhibitions, music and film festivals, performances and theatrical but is also a melting pot of various cultural and religious influences, reflecting the rich tapestry of Albania’s society and history.
The College of Europe’s campus has two sites: the lecture halls with a multipurpose hall/cafeteria which are located in the Liria Building, and the residence building – both at the heart of the Student City Quarter. The Representation Office and the library are within walking distance from the lecture halls and the residence.
Tirana’s two sides: the one of a metropolitan city of arts and culture and, at the same time, the other of a walkable area surrounded by castles and stunning nature – both offer a wealth of recreational opportunities. Well-established regional, national, and local transportation options ensure smooth connectivity within Tirana and its surrounding Albanian and Balkan major cities. Tirana’s Mediterranean character and its strategic location offer a truly unique European experience.
