Rick SZOSTAK is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Alberta. He has authored over 20 books and 100 articles or book chapters across a dozen fields but especially interdisciplinary studies, knowledge organization, economic history, world history, and future studies. He published Integrating the Human Sciences in 2023. In 2024 he edited the Edward Elgar Handbook of Interdisciplinary Teaching and Administration. In 2025, he co-authored new editions of both Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies and Interdisciplinary Research: Process and Theory.
He joined the College of Europe in Natolin in 2022, delivering the Workshop on "Future Studies and Foresight Analysis". Before it, he delivered an online course on "Interdisciplinarity" in 2021.
