"Passing the Torch: The critical role of youth in the implementation of the WPS agenda"
A full room with voices from international organisations, academia, diplomacy, government, and our student community came together yesterday, in partnership with the OSCE, to discuss the role of youth in advancing the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.
Panellists reflected on Albania’s national strategies for gender equality and youth empowerment, the importance of cross-sector collaboration, the contribution of women to conflict resolution, and the need to pass the torch to younger generations through dialogue and empowerment.
Through an interactive discussion moderated by our Resident Professor Odeta Barbullushi, students explored how youth can contribute to gender equality, challenge stereotypes, and support inclusive peace and security policies.
The panellists also highlighted how the WPS agenda connects with Albania’s EU integration path, underlining the importance of informed and engaged young leaders in shaping a more inclusive future.
A round of applause to our speakers, Silvio Gonzato, Ambassador of the EU Delegation to Albania, Megi Fino, Deputy Minister, MEFA of Albania, Lara Scarpitta, OSCE Senior Adviser on Gender Issues, Michele Ribotta, UN Women Representative to Albania, and Michel Tarran, Head of the OSCE Presence in Albania for bringing their expertise into our classroom.
