“International Karlspreis for Young Europeans” in Tirana
Last Friday, the “International Karlspreis for Young Europeans” was organized for the first time in Tirana with the participation of representatives of over 45 European youth organizations which are Karlpreis Laureate.
Our resident professor, Odeta Barbullushi moderated the first panel titled “The World at cross-roads: what will the new generation of Europeans inherit?”, with the participation of distinguished speakers such as the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, the former President of the European Parliament and the Karlspreis Laureate, Mr. Martin Schulz, Ms. Veronica Tsepkalo, a political activist and women’s rights advocate from Belarus, who was awarded the Karlspreis in 2022, and the President of the Karlspreis Stiftung, Dr. Martin Linden.
The panel focused on the most pressing challenges that young people across Europe face in the current geopolitical context and the possible solutions to address them.
Charlemagne Prize of Aachen (Karlspreis) is the oldest and best-known prize awarded for work done in the service of European unification.
Throughout the years Karlspreis has been awarded to distinguished leaders, who through their example of work and political activism advanced European unity and values across borders and generations.
In 1992, Karlspreis was awarded the Patron of this year’s cohort of students at the College of Europe, Mr. Jacques Delors.
