Guest lecture by Prof. Pierre Andrieu
What does a 40-year diplomatic career across Europe and Asia really look like? Yesterday, our students heard it directly from Professor Pierre Andrieu, former French ambassador to Tajikistan and Moldova.
Over the years, his work has taken him from Moscow to Nepal and across Asia, focusing on China, Hong Kong, and Mongolia, before serving as French co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Bringing these experiences together, he spoke with our students about Russia’s and China’s attitudes towards the Western Balkans’ EU path, reflecting on today’s geopolitical realities, the war in Ukraine, and what EU accession means for the region.
Beyond geopolitics, Prof. Andrieu also shared personal reflections from decades in diplomacy, giving our students a behind-the-scenes look at international relations in practice. Thank you, Professor Pierre Andrieu, for sharing your journey with our Victoria Amelina promotion.
