Guest lecture by prof. Aleksandar Spasenovski
How do religious institutions influence politics in the Western Balkans? This Monday, we discussed this question with Aleksandar, professor at the University of Skopje, during a guest lecture on “Churches as Political Actors: Case Studies from the Western Balkans.”
The lecture explored the complex relationship between religion and politics in North Macedonia and Montenegro, unpacking its role in shaping identity, statehood, and ongoing European integration processes in the Western Balkans.
During the Q&A session, students also reflected on the role of religious actors in political mobilisation across the region. Thank you, Prof. Aleksandar Spasenovski, for bringing your expertise into our classroom.
