Guest Lecture by Dr. Ivan Vejvoda
What does it really take to protect democracy in the Western Balkans?
That was the starting point of last night’s discussion with Dr. Ivan Vejvoda, Fellow at the Austrian Institute for International Affairs in Vienna and co-founder of the Europe’s Futures Initiative with ERSTE Foundation.
With more than four decades of experience across academia, civil society, project management, and foreign policy in Europe and beyond, Dr. Vejvoda delivered a guest lecture on the role of civil society in countering threats to democracy in the Western Balkans.
From his early career in the 1990s to his current work, he shared reflections on democratic resilience and transatlantic relations.
The lecture, organised within the framework of the course “Organised Civil Society, Advocacy and Lobbying in Southeastern Europe” with our Director of Studies, Igor Vidačak, was a warm space for dialogue between our students and a professional whose experience has shaped projects and regional cooperation for decades.
Thank you, Dr. Vejvoda, for the great exchange with the bright minds of our Victoria Amelina promotion.
