Frédéric Lebaron is professor of sociology at the Ecole normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, member of the université Paris-Saclay, at the department "Sciences Humaines et Sociales".

He is deputy-director of IDHE.S (CNRS laboratory) at the ENS Paris-Saclay.  He was president of the French Sociological Association between 2015 and 2017.

He specializes in economic and political sociology, social inequality, social science methodology and epistemology, and is currently working on economic policies and social inequalities in Europe, Brazil, and more largely in relation to globalization.

He recently published/Le capital linguistique. Une sociologie du langage/ at CNRS éditions (2026) and in portuguese /Pesquisa quantitativa nas ciências sociais. Coleta e Analise de Dados/ (Edusp, 2026).
