Alexander MESAROVICH

Alexander Mesarovich is a Visiting Professor at the Department of European Transformation and Integration Studies, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Stirling, a Visiting Professor at Comenius University, and a Teaching Assistant at Luiss Guido Carli University.

Alexander’s research interests focus on the intersection between social practices, knowledge production, and socio-political change. His monograph, Europeanization and Informal Networks in Southeastern Europe (Routledge, 2026), analysed the impact of informal political networks on the EU accession processes of Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia. While a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute, Alexander ran the Understanding Illiberal Diffusion (UNLIB) Project, analysing the impact of transnational populist radical right actors on illiberal policy diffusion in Central and Eastern Europe. Finally, Alexander has also published on populist radical right public policy, EU external relations, and UK-EU security cooperation.

His work has been published in the Journal of Common Market Studies, Europe-Asia Studies, and the International Review of Public Policy, among other places. In the Department, Alexander will be teaching the Seminar on Research Methodology in the 2026-27 academic year.
