Training on EU Diplomacy & Diplomatic Skills for GCC Officials

From 3 – 5 November 2024, the College of Europe Executive Education, Trainings and Projects office delivered a training on EU Diplomacy & Diplomatic Skills for officials of the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 

The participants learned about the EU’s decision-making processes and its external representation. They also discussed which pitfalls to avoid when writing a report or a political analysis, as well as the skills a peace mediator needs. 

Mediation trainer Guy Patrick Banim concludes: "Mediation is a diplomat's daily bread and butter. Looking at mediation theory, EU concepts & guidelines as well as real world case studies provided the participants with a comprehensive overview of peace mediation and the EU's role in peace processes."
