MATA graduates become part of the alumni communities of both the College of Europe and The Fletcher School at Tufts University, as well as a close-knit network of MATA graduates working across Europe, the United States and the wider world.

Consulting, Technology, and Security Policy
Leopoldo García Beneito, MATA '26
Analyst, Wavestone Consulting, Luxembourg
After completing his MATA internship at Wavestone, Leopoldo joined the firm's EU Services Team as an Analyst. Based in Luxembourg, he supports projects for European institutions in areas including digital policy, cybersecurity, migration, counterterrorism, open-source technology, and EU-US cooperation.

Resident Junior Fellow, German Marshall Fund of the United States
Antonia completed her MATA internship at the German Marshall Fund in Washington, DC, where she subsequently continued her professional journey.
“The MATA programme has given me the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with a host of exceptional scholars, practitioners, colleagues, and friends on both sides of the Atlantic. Over the past two years, I have studied policy challenges at the forefront of transatlantic relations today, including national and economic security, regulatory dialogue, and digital transformation. The programme consistently challenged me to broaden my perspective and expand my horizons.”

Policy Officer, DG CNECT, European Commission
During MATA, Pau completed his internship at CSIS. He subsequently worked with Baltic countries at the World Bank before joining the European Commission as a Blue Book trainee and continuing as a policy officer.
“MATA-EIS gave me an interdisciplinary perspective that has been invaluable throughout my career. The Natolin study trip to the Baltic region directly supported my early work with Baltic countries at the World Bank. The programme’s focus on US–EU relations, technology, security and industrial policy also prepared me to contribute to Europe’s Technology Sovereignty Package during my Blue Book traineeship.”

Policy Officer, European Commission
Cecilia’s pathway connects the Tax Foundation’s Washington and Brussels offices with her subsequent work at the European Commission.
“MATA has been essential to my work in trade and economic policy. It gave me both the substantive knowledge to understand complex transatlantic issues and the practical skills to present them clearly and engage with different perspectives. Just as importantly, the programme gave me a deep understanding of the institutions, policymaking cultures, political dynamics and working methods on both sides of the Atlantic—an asset I draw on every day.”

Junior Foreign Affairs Advisor, Office of the Spanish Prime Minister
Shortly after graduating from MATA, Antonio joined the Office of the Spanish Prime Minister in Madrid. Building on his Washington internship experience and the programme's transatlantic perspective, he now contributes to policymaking at the highest levels of government.

As a member of MATA’s first cohort, Lucie developed a transatlantic perspective that contributed to her subsequent work in international organisations and peacebuilding. Her career has connected institutional decision-making with work closer to communities affected by conflict.

Stefan Harrigan
Following MATA, Stefan developed a career in international trade and economic development in the United States. His experience illustrates how the programme’s combination of European and American perspectives can support work beyond traditional diplomatic and EU institutional pathways.
