Natolin Nests Series

'Revisiting the European Green Deal'

This fourth volume in the Natolin Nests Series stems from the 5th Natolin Energy and Climate Conference, held on 20 June 2024 by students of the Madeleine Albright Promotion, within the Natolin Climate and Energy Transition Nest.

Edited by Dr Beatriz Martinez Romera of the University of Copenhagen, the book revisits the European Green Deal at a moment when its implementation is facing new political, social, economic and geopolitical pressures. Bringing together contributions from scholars, practitioners and College of Europe students, the volume explores the Green Deal’s social and justice dimensions, its impact on internal EU policies, and its wider global and geopolitical implications — from energy justice and trust in climate communication to agri-food policy, hydrogen strategy, international trade, CBAM and the Arctic.

Combining academic reflection with student initiative, this publication offers a timely and critical assessment of the European Green Deal’s achievements, tensions and future pathways, highlighting the challenges of delivering a green transition that is effective, legitimate and socially accepted.
