Natolin Oaks Project I: Natolin Walk | Climate and Energy Transition Nest
The first activity of the Climate and Energy Transition Nest at the College of Europe in Natolin was the Natolin Oaks Project, Natolin Walk.
This session, which has already become a tradition at Natolin, took participants around the campus with dendrologist Mr Mateusz KORBIK to discover the park’s historic trees and appreciate the surrounding greenery - often overlooked in daily life.
Alongside this introduction, students received simple instructions on how to collect and identify viable acorns for a joint planting. These included tips on what to look for, how to identify the correct species, and how to determine whether the acorns are “good”.
This was the opening activity of the three-part Natolin Oaks Project (with “Grow Your Own Tree” and “Let’s Talk About the Trees” to follow), an initiative that reflects the ongoing effort to preserve the historic oak trees in Natolin Park and to promote environmental awareness.
