El-Hiwar III Training Programme for LAS officials

In the framework of the EU-funded project El-Hiwar III, the College of Europe Executive Education, Training and Projects Office organised a Training of Trainers (ToT) on Human Rights from 20-22 May 2024 in Cairo (Egypt).

Building upon the previous dialogue and trainings implemented during El-Hiwar II in 2019 and 2020, this capacity-building activity targeted League of Arab States (LAS) staff working on Human Rights to strengthen their skills on Human Rights education as potential trainers and to streamline the Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) as a cross-cutting aspect of their daily work.

The training comprised three half days convening 13 participants and 2 trainers as well as keynote speakers both from the EU and the Arab region. The training focused on presenting and discussing with participants the International Human Rights System, as well as the Human Rights approach of both the European Union and the League of Arab States.

The most intense part of the training was devoted to the training of participants on how to design and implement a training programme on human rights with very practical examples and exercises. Both participants and trainees engaged in sharing experiences and best practices as well as analysing the most challenging aspects faced both conceptually and practically.
