A Conversation that Matters: “Equality and Diversity in European Affairs. A Vital Mission”

On Tuesday, March 25th, 2025, we brought together in Brussels passionate voices to talk about something that truly matters: equality and diversity in European affairs.
It was inspiring to hear from Rector Federica MOGHERINI, Mr Mikael SVENSSON, Vice President for Government Affairs at Mastercard Europe, and Dr Halliki VOOLMA, Cabinet Member for Equality, Preparedness & Crisis Management to European Commissioner Hadja LAHBIB, who shared their experiences and perspectives on building more inclusive spaces, both in higher education and in the workplace.
A key focus was the InclusivEU Scholarship, an initiative launched in 2023 to increase social and cultural mobility in the College of Europe, now supported by Mastercard! As a recipient of this scholarship, our student, Nina KAROHS, shared her personal journey to the College of Europe, highlighting the importance of inclusion and the steps we can take to foster a more diverse academic environment. As she beautifully put it, the College should be “a place of conviviality and respect instead of competition and homogeneity, a place of togetherness, not loneliness, a place of being heard, not being silenced.”
This conversation is just the beginning, a reminder that fostering diversity isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s essential for the future of Europe.
