College of Europe students stand out at the 2025 Concours René Cassin

We are proud to congratulate students Ridhwane ALLOUCHENour Jihene GHATTAS, and Meie VAN DER STEEG from our European Legal Studies Department on their brilliant performance at the Concours René Cassin – the oldest francophone moot court competition on the European Convention on Human Rights!

Held in Strasbourg from 18 to 22 March 2025, the competition brought together 38 university teams from across Europe for an intense week of legal pleadings before a jury composed of academics, lawyers, and judges from European and international courts.

Dedicated to those who defend our fundamental freedoms, the 2025 edition focused on the role and rights of lawyers, from activism and religious symbols in court to the rise of artificial intelligence in the legal profession.

Congratulations to our students for securing a well-deserved 4th place in Strasbourg, and special thanks to their coaches, Margherita BRANCA and Emma PAULET, for their precious guidance and constant support throughout the preparation and competition stages!
