College of Europe joins in preparing upcoming Danish Presidency staff

The rotating EU Council Presidency is a key role for EU Member States, especially for their representatives and officials working on day-to-day policies.

From 25-27 November, the College of Europe hosted a training on the Presidency of the Council of the EU and negotiations in collaboration with the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (DFSA) in Copenhagen. The training was designed to prepare DFSA staff for their upcoming role in the second half of 2025.

Key topics included negotiation tactics, chairing strategies, and communication techniques —skills they will need when setting the agenda in actual negotiations within the Council.

While the three-day training was intense, some time was also set aside for connecting with colleagues and building a strong team. Participants got the opportunity to sharpen their negotiation and collaboration skills through a teambuilding activity and a negotiations simulation. We were also honoured to meet with H.E. Mr. Mihael Zupančič, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Copenhagen, who shared invaluable insights from his experience with EU negotiations during Slovenia’s two previous presidency.
