The SimGame 10th Anniversary Conference
Exploring the Role, Effectiveness, and Future of Simulations in Teaching EU Decision-Making
2–3 October 2025 | College of Europe | VE.C.01.02 & 03

The Department of European Political and Governance Studies at the College of Europe is organising a conference to celebrate a decade of innovation in teaching through simulations with the 10th Anniversary Conference of The SimGame.
This two-day event will bring together academics, practitioners, and experts to reflect on the evolving role of simulation exercises in understanding and practising EU decision-making. Discussions will explore how to design simulations that mirror real-world negotiations, assess their pedagogical effectiveness, and consider the challenges and opportunities of integrating emerging technologies—particularly the role of AI—into future exercises.
The conference will also mark a special moment in the history of EU simulations at the College of Europe with the awarding of an Honorary Professorship to Dame Helen WALLACE, the initiator of EU simulations at the College.
By fostering dialogue across disciplines and professional backgrounds, this anniversary event aims to advance the practice and scholarship of EU simulations and their contribution to teaching, learning, and policy insight.
