Research Chairs
The Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies comprised, between 2008 and 2020, the Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations and, from 2011 to 2013, the TOTAL Chair of EU Foreign Policy.
The Department has also hosted a number of Fulbright scholars under the programmes of the Fulbright-Schuman Distinguished Scholar award and the Fulbright Scholar Award in NATO Security Studies, as well as other visiting scholars.

Between 2008 and 2020, the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies hosted the Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations, and between 2014 and 2020 also the EU-China Research Centre. Both benefitted from the financial support of the Baillet Latour Fund and conducted research related to the European Union’s relations with China and Asia.

Between 2011 and 2013, the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies hosted the TOTAL Chair of EU Foreign Policy. The Chair undertook research to analyse the development, relevance and effectiveness of EU foreign policy in a changing European and international context. It paid particular attention to integrate non-Western perspectives by adopting an 'outside-in perspective'.

In the context of this Chair, the Exploring EU Foreign Policy online resource guide was developed as an information source for scholars, policy-makers and students. The website also serves as a companion to the book The Foreign Policy of the European Union by Stephan Keukeleire and Tom Delreux (Bloomsbury Academic, 2022, 3rd ed).
