The European Political and Governance Studies Department actively encourages its Academic Assistants to advance their research and contribute to the broader field of EU studies.

During the 2024/2025 academic year, several Academic Assistants and Department Professors presented their work at major conferences, including:

In addition, the Department maintains a strong relationship with the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA). In the same academic year, Academic Assistants contributed to two editions of TEPSA’s European Council Experts’ Debrief.

 

Beyond this, the faculty and staff of the Department of European Political and Governance Studies conduct high-level research individually and through sponsored programmes. 

  • The Bruges Political Research Papers deal with theoretical and policy issues relevant to the politics of European integration. 
     
  • The College of Europe Policy Briefs (CEPOB) deal with a topical policy challenge related to European Union affairs. It starts from the analysis of this challenge and provides scientific insights as evidence base for policy choices regarding the future handling of the challenge. 
     
  • The European Energy Policy Chair makes the College of Europe a European hub for teaching, researching and discussing strategic energy policy. (As of July 2024, the Energy Chair has ceased to exist. Consequently, the content related to this section will no longer be updated.)
     
  • Two Fulbright Chairs promoting educational exchange between the United States and Europe.
